Suicide Prevention Amidst a Pandemic: The Road Ahead – Webinar

June 17 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

COVID-19 is having an enduring impact on behavioral health, with stay-at-home orders and physical distancing contributing to loneliness and, for many, a sense of hopelessness.

Moving suicide prevention forward during the pandemic is essential. Recent policy developments are already underway, including proposed legislation to transition the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline from its 1-800-273-8255 number to an easy-to-remember, three-digit number (9-8-8) and include mental health crisis response.

But what impact will it have and how will we get there?  Find out during “Suicide Prevention Amidst a Pandemic: The Road Ahead,” a webinar we are hosting with the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline on Wednesday, June 17, from 2-3:30 p.m. ET.

Together with Laura Evans from Vibrant Emotional Health, Connor Jobes from American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Lauren Conaboy from Centerstone and Michael Petruzzelli from the National Council, we will:

  • Examine the state of suicide prevention, crisis line capacity and potential impacts of COVID-19.
  • Review legislation and other efforts to establish 9-8-8 as a national dial-in code for support.
  • Discuss how to articulate the value of well-resourced suicide crisis lines to policymakers.
