1st Annual Statewide International Overdose Awareness Day Event
August 31 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pmFREE
With fatal overdoses on the rise throughout our state and the nation, The Vermont Overdose Prevention Network (VOPN) and Team Sharing Inc. is holding a rally as part of the International Overdose Awareness Day campaign on August 31st. The purpose of our rally is to provide Vermonters with the opportunity to “Speak Up” publicly by attending; to send a message loud and clear.
“We Can do More to Save The Lives of Those Most At-Risk”! “We Must Do More!”
The VOPN is a grassroots coalition that brought together a group of concerned and deeply committed Vermonters for the express purpose of reducing the occurrence of drug overdose, and therefore the incidence of drug overdose death in Vermont. The advocacy network is statewide and supports the widespread availability of harm-reduction interventions, including Overdose Prevention Sites. VOPN is growing steadily and is dedicated to advocacy on behalf of people who use drugs. Our purpose is to save lives by supporting the expansion of Harm Reduction interventions in Vermont.
Team Sharing Inc. is a co-host of this event. Team Sharing is a national organization of parents who have lost a child to substance use disorder. They are providing a generous donation to have a pictorial memorial.
International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD) is the world’s largest annual campaign to end overdose, remember without stigma those who have died and acknowledge the grief of the family and friends left behind.
